Matched Savings Program
“Assets for Artists did exactly what I was hoping it would do: It gave me skills and knowledge in areas I was lacking, incentive to create a habit of putting money aside, and guidelines for thinking about my business in clear and efficient ways. ” –
Matt Lorenz, Amherst-based musician
|“I loved the entire experience with Assets for Artists. The staff was so caring and attentive. They were always available to help you navigate the savings process. The biggest benefit for me was meeting the other artists, and being part of a community where everyone was striving to elevate their creative endeavors. I have since become friends with a couple of my A4A “classmates.” We’ve kept in touch, collaborated, and supported each other since graduating from the program.” – Aisha Densmore-Bey, Boston-based architect & designer|
Assets for Artists’ matched savings program is an innovative support model that helps artists strengthen their creative practice and grow its long-term sustainability. Since 2008, Assets for Artists has served over 250 artists across the Northeast.
Artists selected for our 2016 Matched Savings Program will receive:
A “matched savings” grant that serves as working capital to be invested in the artist’s creative business. Participants are provided with grants of $1,000 or $2,000 to match a corresponding amount of savings, and the combined amount is used by the artist toward implementing their business plan.
Free professional development services, including workshops on financial management and business planning.
Free one-on-one coaching in the development of the artist’s business plan.
“This is a great program. A4A helped me start my business and get it off the ground. Now things that seemed impossible before Assets for Artists are tangible and make sense. The financial wisdom and confidence I’ve gained have led me to other major financial and life decisions.” – Priya Nadkarni, Springfield-based painter
“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this program. It has been enlightening, inspiring, challenging, and rewarding as an artist and business person. Assets for Artists guided us through each step with the perfect balance of professionalism, encouragement and personal attention.” – Sophie Wood, Montague-based performance artist
Creative entrepreneurs in ALL disciplines and financial circumstances are encouraged to apply! If you’re an artist/maker motivated to improve your financial & business management skills and to make investments aimed at growing your creative enterprise, we’d love to hear from you.
