the newest members of the Assets for Artists community in North Adams!
We’re thrilled to welcome these eight artists into our hometown initiative, the North Adams Project, which expands and celebrates our creative community by supporting our residents and welcoming newcomers. Working in film, sculpture, painting, drawing, and metal, we have a fabulously diverse group of visual artists in this group. Four of the eight just arrived in North Adams, settling in to build their creative practice in our hip little city. If you see them around town, be sure to wish them a hearty welcome! The North Adams Project was made possible by generous funding from the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation, MountainOne, the Surdna Foundation, and the United States Department of Agriculture, plus continued program support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Citizens Bank, Berkshire Bank, and Assets for Independence.
Assets for Artists is a professional development program for creative entrepreneurs. Our goal is to equip artists with the tools to sustain the creative work they love throughout a lifetime. Our projects include a matched savings program (which helps artists develop a business plan and raise the seed capital to fund it), free financial and business training workshops for artists in all disciplines, creative place-making programs in several communities, and a newly launched residency at our home base – the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, MA.
