Blair Benjamin, Director. Founder of the Assets for Artists program in 2007, Blair believes that managing its collaborative growth is a study in chaos theory. He also co-founded Makers’ Mill, the makerspace in North Adams, and is involved in a variety of economic development initiatives. Previously, Blair spent 12 years developing MASS MoCA’s commercial real estate operations and alternative energy projects. He is also a husband, father, writer, and former Peace Corps volunteer.
Briana Halpin, Program Associate. After assisting professional artists for nearly a decade, Briana joined A4A in 2013. She is excited to be working in support of so many terrific artists, and she can say “large deposit waiver form” three times fast. In her spare time, Briana likes to walk in water and make things with yarn.
Emily Edwards, Program Assistant. Emily received her BFA in Art Photography and English from Syracuse University. She joined A4A in 2014 and is thrilled to be part of such a kind and supportive team of people who work to empower artists. You can find her at your local farmers’ market browsing the fresh fruit, and at the cinema analyzing coming-of-age narratives.
Esther Robinson, Director. Founder of the nonprofit artist services organization Arthome based in Brooklyn, NY, and one of the initial architects and program staff of the Creative Capital Foundation, Esther is a national leader in asset-building for artists. She has led curriculum development and contributed to program design since the initial planning of Assets for Artists. Esther is also an award-winning filmmaker and producer.
Michelle Proffit, Program Associate. Michelle Proffit has worked in both the non-profit sector and within arts management for over ten years, continually striving to bring the arts and activism together. Michelle has a background in design and is a practicing artist and musician.
Margaret Miley, Executive Director. One of the founders of the Midas Collaborative, a national leader in the “asset-building” field, Margaret has served as its Executive Director for over a decade. Along with her team at Midas, she has played a key role in building the operational capacity of the Assets for Artists program since its earliest planning phase.
Anahit Fitzpatrick, Asset Development Program Manager. Anahit works closely, tirelessly, and very patiently with A4A staff to administer its matched savings program.
