Here’s another batch of hard-working A4A grads. Congratulations, all!
Scout Cuomo paints, draws, sculpts, and animates. A self-described “impressionistic and abstract impressionistic painter,” she works mostly with glass and epoxy to create subtly three-dimensional works. Scout renders the subjects of her paintings –animals, natural scenes, people immersed in water – with a powerful sense of wonder. With her A4A funds, Scout will create a thriving artistic business in Western Massachusetts, which will include friendly animal sculptures for homes and nurseries. Keep up with Scout’s work on her website!

Sheila Odessey is a textile artist turned entrepreneur. Based in NYC, Sheila creates eco-friendly and eco-fashionable handbags, clutches, and purses out of everyday plastic bags. Sheila cuts up the graphics of the bags and rearranges the pieces into a woven form. She was inspired to create these bags after she realized that Americans discard several plastic bags per day. Sheila has said “I turn trash into the trendy…I was motivated to take this bad habit and turn it into an asset.” Keep an eye out for Sheila’s ultra-chic bags!
