Graham Heffernan, one of our 2015 Rhode Island artists, is a visual artist specializing in architectural abstraction. Graham explores space, surface, and memory in his work, often drawing inspiration from lucid dreams. He layers geometric imagery using delicate materials, creating minimalist spaces that are simplistic and striking. In the same vein, his paintings feature minimalist geometric figures with layered paint in natural tones. Using thick layers of paint with heavy brushstrokes he creates depth and texture.
Graham attended Rhode Island College where he earned his BFA in Painting/Printmaking in 2007. Graham’s work has been exhibited in local and national venues such as the Green Space Gallery at the T.F. Green Airport, the Skitch Henderson Museum in New Milford, CT, Lenore Gray Gallery in Providence, RI, the Arts West Gallery at Elon University, and Apex Gallery in New York City. Previously, Graham served as the Executive Director/Co-Founder of the Lafayette Mill Galley in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. He is also co-founder of the Prolific Art Association, which strives to promote the professionalism and success of emerging artists.
