In 2014, MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists program launched its North Adams Project, offering incentives and support services to artists interested in building an artistic practice in North Adams. We’re now proud to introduce our first group of NA Project artists, including 6 artists who recently re-located to North Adams to become part of our creative community. This pilot project was made possible by generous funding from North Adams-based MountainOne Bank and the Surdna Foundation, along with continued program support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Citizens Bank, Berkshire Bank, Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the federal Assets for Independence program. Thanks to continued support from these generous funders and the collaboration of numerous partners throughout the state, this is our seventh year of serving artists in Massachusetts — bringing our Bay State roster to 147!
Our new artists work in an exciting range of materials and disciplines: sculpture, metal, glass, dance and drumming, photography, even puppets! Check out their profiles below to see more of the fantastic work they are creating. Welcome to A4A, artists! And more importantly, welcome to North Adams.
