Eligible applicants include artists in all disciplines — visual artists, musicians, performers, designers, photographers, filmmakers, artisans, etc. — whose practice would benefit from the opportunity to receive working capital funds and improve their financial and business management skills to make valuable investments aimed at growing their creative enterprises. (Income and household asset guidelines also apply. See application form for details.)

Artists selected to participate in the 2014 A4A program will benefit from the following opportunities:
A “matched savings” program providing working capital to be invested in the artist’s Massachusetts-based creative business. Over the course of 6-27 months, artists will save $2,000 of their own funds in order to receive a $2,000 matching grant.

Two free professional development workshops: A dynamic “bootcamp” on personal finance and an artist-tailored business planning workshop. These mandatory trainings will be offered in eastern and western MA in winter/spring 2015 (dates TBD).

One-on-one business/financial counseling, including support in writing a business plan to guide the targeted investment of the artist’s matched savings funds. The business plan must be finalized before participating artists gain access to their program funds.
