We are excited to announce Assets for Artists’ fall 2014 program cycle for artists living or operating their creative business anywhere in Massachusetts.
Apply by November 7th!
IF YOU’VE SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED CONFIRMATION, PLEASE E-MAIL email@example.com.
Since 2008, A4A has been committed to helping
Massachusetts artists in all disciplines build the foundation for a lifetime of creative work. Apply now to join them!
Eligible applicants include artists in all disciplines — visual artists, musicians, performers, designers, photographers, filmmakers, artisans, etc. — whose practice would benefit from the opportunity to receive working capital funds and improve their financial and business management skills to make valuable investments aimed at growing their creative enterprises. (Income and household asset guidelines also apply. See application form for details.)
“This grant and its process was deeply changing, even transformative, and came at just the right time for me.” – Anne Lilly, Boston-based sculptor
Artists selected to participate in the 2014 A4A program will benefit from the following opportunities:
A “matched savings” program providing working capital to be invested in the artist’s Massachusetts-based creative business. Over the course of 6-27 months, artists will save $2,000 of their own funds in order to receive a $2,000 matching grant.
“The design of this program is excellent. The match was a strong incentive to save money. The trainings provided a great deal of well-targeted, important new information. Individualized guidance was available throughout the writing process. – Valerie Isaacs, Allston-based painter
Two free professional development workshops: A dynamic “bootcamp” on personal finance and an artist-tailored business planning workshop. These mandatory trainings will be offered in eastern and western MA in winter/spring 2015 (dates TBD).
“Everything about this program exceeded my expectations. The staff made each step really clear and they were always very responsive and helpful along the way. The trainings were helpful and relevant. I was grateful for this opportunity to grow my business and get some training and assistance.” – Macey Faeilla, Owner of Knack (creative reuse and community crafting space), Easthampton, MA
One-on-one business/financial counseling, including support in writing a business plan to guide the targeted investment of the artist’s matched savings funds. The business plan must be finalized before participating artists gain access to their program funds.
“This has been a wonderful chance for me to learn about financial literacy, build savings habits, and expand my business. The classes were so helpful and informative, and the group dynamic was very supportive.” – Liz Lawrence, Lowell-based musician
