Based in Easthampton, Seth Lepore is a writer, actor, humorist & musician, whose one-man shows tour regularly at independent theatre festivals, black box theatres, universities, alternative spaces and various arts presenter circuits throughout the country.
Seth’s 2013 piece, Firecracker Bye Bye, which premiered at Minnesota Fringe, is a one-man show in which Seth captures his vivacious Italian-American family, heightening the personality of each character all the while exposing the charged dynamics that exist between them.
Twin Cities Daily Planet applauds the premier: “Lepore’s new one-man show, Firecracker Bye Bye, is a tender and funny ode to his late grandmother Nonie. He’s a gifted performer with a rubber face; he can lucidly switch characters just by cocking his head and changing his expression… and this heartfelt show is just about impossible not to enjoy. Bring your grandmother—whether she’s alive, or simply alive in your memory.”
Currently, Seth is touring a trilogy of one-man shows about the underbelly of the American self-help movement. Premiering in 2010, Losing My Religion: Confessions of a New Age Refugee, “exposes the blurry line between self-help and faith” as “yoga gurus, healthy chocolate peddlers and Buddhists with God complexes ego-trip their way toward absurdity.”
Next, SuperHappyMelancholyexpialidocious (2012) explores the American happiness complex, dappled with autobiographical observations. Finally, Kicking Ass and Taking Names (2014) provoked a 12-hour long webcast performance challenging our concepts of success through failure. The grand finale will premier at Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis, February 28-March 2, 2014.
