Kris Badertscher is a Northampton-based video artist and producer whose work highlights contemporary artists and their creative process. Kris pools her experience in journalism, video savvy, and interest in community to capture and share the stories of artists in New York City and, now, in the Pioneer Valley.
Through a lifetime of art-making, Kris has touched upon theatre, ceramics, art education, and design, receiving her BFA in Theatre from the Tische School of the Arts at NYU, and pursuing a master’s degree in Architecture and Regional Planning from UMASS Amherst. Once in the Pioneer Valley, Kris became the creative director of AWE TV, an Amherst-based television show specializing in women in local business.
Today, Kris uses her well-honed creative strengths to draw out and highlight the talents, quirks, and statements of fellow artists. Check out this video of a fascinating Northampton artist, Tom Friedman in his NYC gallery space:
In addition to artist spotlights, Kris creates videos that are used by small businesses and entrepreneurs for Kickstarter campaigns, social media, project announcements, and on their websites. Together, these videos create a record of inspiring people in the local community.
