Jennifer Clement is a landscape oil painter whose work captures her surrounding Merrimack Valley and Boston’s North Shore. Beyond depictions of hills, marshes, and coasts, Jennifer’s paintings reflect her interest in the space between conscious and subconscious, “like a dream,”she says, “or a memory or perhaps a familiar feeling you can’t quite place…I like to think of these moments as memories of the soul.”
In addition to her painting practice, Jennifer is a skilled businesswoman. The Artist Bar is Jennifer’s innovative way of bringing art and the thrill of creating to a wider audience. Over cocktails and conversation, novice and experienced artists gather for corporate events and at local restaurants. After a demonstration, each participant tries their hand at painting on their own canvas. In their first year, these “paint and sip” parties have been met with great success, so much so that Jennifer hopes to take them international, specifically, to Tuscany where she studied with her mentor George Gabin.
In an interview with The Telegraph of Nashua, Jennifer explains the foundational belief of her program. “I really believe there is an artist in everyone, and we’re all different […] It comes naturally.”
Jennifer is a graduate of Monserrat College of Art in Beverly Massachusetts. As a member of Western Avenue Studios of Lowell, she participates in Open Studios the first Saturday of every month.
