A native New Yorker, Matthew Handal was born in Brooklyn. Matt has worked in the film/tv industry for over 20 years, starting as an assistant to director Jim Jarmusch before transitioning to post-production as an assistant editor on the films “Scent of a Woman” and “The Mambo Kings,” among others. As an editor, Matt has worked on feature films, documentaries and news, and collaborated on works with stars such as directors Milos Forman and Steven Speilberg.
Most recently, Matthew edited a feature in the Philippines, called Deep Gold. Currently, Matthew is producing a documentary called Riding with dissABILITIES and developing a documentary on the Palestinian diaspora called AmericanPAL: Conversations with my Father.
Matthew is also an educator, having worked as an instructor at New York University (NYU) and Bigfoot Entertainment, among others.
