Having started her artistic endeavors as a painter, Teresa Mowery became intrigued with jewelry and metalworking early on. Mowery received her B.F.A. in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from Maine College of Art in Portland, ME.
Mowery’s sense of adventure has always guided her. After college, Mowery traveled and toured by bicycle extensively throughout the American Southwest and New England. Mowery then took a position managing a jewelry business in New York City for several years. Eventually all roads led back to Rhode Island, where she had spent much of her youth.
Teresa then began a career in Art Education and has worked for both the Newport Art Museum and as Museum School Director at the Fuller Museum of Art in Brockton, MA. She founded Patina Studio in 2005, a small arts and crafts business.
Currently, along with artwork and decorative ornaments, she also designs and finishes custom metal work including kitchen hoods, back splashes, bar tops and other furniture.
Teresa’s current body of work reflects her fascination with both science and art. Her pieces can be found in numerous galleries and private collections throughout the United States and South America.
