Every two years, a hoard of policymakers, asset-building practitioners, funders, and advocates descend upon Washington, DC to attend the Assets Learning Conference. Once there, attendees connect with each other to find mutual interests and exchange ideas. Asset-building is what we do here at Assets for Artists, by enabling low-income artist-entrepreneurs to accumulate savings and invests in long-term assets for their businesses. So Blair Benjamin, our Program Director, is representing not only as an asset-building practitioner, but as an advocate for you, the artists, at this year’s conference.
A novice asset-building practitioner in 2008, Blair live blogged the conference for the Corporation for Enterprise Development. In 2010, he came back as an Innovative Idea Champion. That “innovative idea” has helped over 70 artists accumulate more than $200,000 in working capital. This year he will reprise his role as a live blogger.
Follow Blair as he navigates the 2012 Assets Learning Conference: Ideas into Action, where he will encourage other asset-building practitioners, funders, and policymakers to factor artists into the equation.
