If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Assets for Artists, it’s that artists are endlessly resourceful and multi-talented, able to put together a living from numerous art forms and lines of work. They often showcase an eclectic mix of talents, and none I’ve encountered has a more eclectic mix of talents than Aimee Gelinas. Where do I start in describing her?
She’s a member (and seems to be lead marketing force) of Gaia Roots, an all-female World Music drumming and dancing ensemble.
She’s a nature photographer and a maker of “natural jewelry” using objects like cedar berries and crystals.
And if that combination doesn’t sound particularly eclectic, there’s more: Aimee is the lead singer of a tribally-influenced metal band called SIFER.
She also leads environmental education tours throughout western Massachusetts. She lives high up in the mountains of Windsor, MA, and is working on an exciting project to build a space for educational/cultural programs and workshops on a parcel of land adjacent to her home, bringing together her multiple interests and rooting them in a place that is the source of Aimee’s inspiration.
